Reports: Heat sign Precious Achiuwa
Wed, Sep 24, 2025, 4:25 AM
Anthony Chiang
According to multiple outlets, the Heat signed Precious Achiuwa to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal.
Analysis: Miami's first-round pick in the 2020 draft, Achiuwa, hopes his second stint with the Heat will be more successful than the first. The first order of business for the power forward who spent last season with the Knicks will be to earn a roster spot, as his contract is fully non-guaranteed. In 57 games for the Knicks, Achiuwa averaged 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20.5 minutes. Even if he can make Miami's opening night roster, Achiuwa faces long odds to become fantasy-relevant in 2025-26.
Tyler Herro
Heat expect Herro (ankle) to miss eight weeks
Fri, Sep 19, 2025, 10:16 AM
Miami Heat
The Heat announced Friday that Tyler Herro (ankle) is expected to miss around eight weeks after undergoing surgery.
Analysis: Herro, who injured his left ankle earlier this summer, underwent surgery on Friday after PRP treatments and cortisone shots failed to address the case of posterior impingement syndrome adequately. With the timeline provided by the Heat, there's a chance Herro will be back on the court before Thanksgiving. For those preparing for fantasy drafts, Herro's absence negatively impacts his value. However, it also raises the ceiling of Norman Powell, who's beginning his first season with the Heat after being acquired from the Clippers in July.

Tyler Herro (foot, ankle) to undergo surgery
Fri, Sep 19, 2025, 4:56 AM
Miami Herald
Tyler Herro (foot, ankle) will undergo surgery that will sideline him for the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
Analysis: According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Herro hoped to avoid surgery, as the injury had been an issue since mid-summer. Among the treatments the Heat guard underwent before the decision was made to operate on his left foot and ankle were PRP and cortisone injections. Losing Herro leaves a significant void in the Heat offense, as he's coming off the best season of his NBA career. Earning his first All-Star Game appearance, Herro averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 3.3 three-pointers in 77 regular-season appearances. A timeline for his recovery will likely be provided after Friday's surgical procedure. No Herro in the lineup places even more responsibility upon the shoulders of offseason acquisition Norman Powell, not to mention holdovers Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins. Also, there should be room for bit contributors such as Davion Mitchell to step up as well.
Simone Fontecchio
Simone Fontecchio records 22 points, five rebounds
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 7:43 AM
Simone Fontecchio accumulated 22 points (8-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, three steals and four three-pointers in Italy's Sunday loss to Slovenia.
Analysis: After an inconsistent run through group play, Fontecchio capped his EuroBasket experience with a solid effort against Slovenia. This was the second game of 20 points or more for the Heat forward, who went off for 39 points in an August 31 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Sunday, Fontecchio shot 4-of-10 from three, and that's the area that may translate the most when assessing his outlook with Miami next season. The Heat traded Duncan Robinson to Detroit, opening up room for someone to step forward as a capable catch-and-shoot option.
Nikola Jovic
Nikola Jovic tallies 20/4/4 line vs. Finland
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 11:14 AM
Nikola Jovic finished with 20 points (7-of-13 FGs), four rebounds, four assists and two three-pointers against Finland on Saturday.
Analysis: It was an up-and-down EuroBasket from Jovic, but he ended things on a high note, even if it was an early-than-expected loss for Serbia. Jovic's 20 points were a tournament-high for him, which will hopefully help propel him into a big season with Miami. The 2022 first-round pick is an exciting late-round pick with plenty of upside.
Pelle Larsson
Pelle Larsson tallies 18 points vs. Lithuania
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 5:38 AM
Pelle Larsson amassed 18 points (8-of-19 FGs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers in Wednesday's loss to Lithuania.
Analysis: While Sweden finished group play at EuroBasket with a 1-4 record, they did enough to qualify for the Round of 16 thanks to Great Britain's win over Montenegro earlier Wednesday. Larsson has led the way offensively for the Swedes, hitting double figures in all four games he played, surpassing 20 points on two occasions. His national team role may not align with what the Heat ask him to do next season, as Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Norman Powell are expected to lead the way offensively. However, Larsson should be in a position where he can earn consistent rotation minutes after appearing in 55 games as a rookie.
Pelle Larsson
Pelle Larsson scores 28 points vs. Montenegro
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 5:18 AM
Pelle Larsson finished Monday's loss to Montenegro with 28 points (10-of-20 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers.
Analysis: There's no shortage of players who take on starring roles for their national teams after being bit contributors for their NBA squads. That's the case for Larsson, who's leading the way offensively for Sweden after a solid rookie season with the Heat. He shot 50 percent from the field on Monday, including a 7-of-11 mark from two, while recording a complete stat line. What Larsson does in EuroBasket is unlikely to impact his fantasy value for the 2025-26 season, but adding confidence in his ability to handle scoring in a high-volume game isn't the worst thing for the forward or the Heat.
Simone Fontecchio
Simone Fontecchio goes off for 39 points in win
Sun, Aug 31, 2025, 10:39 AM
Simone Fontecchio finished Sunday's win over Bosnia and Herzegovina with 39 points (13-of-20 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and seven three-pointers.
Analysis: Fontecchio broke out in a big way Sunday afternoon after shooting a combined 5-of-21 from the field in games against Greece and Georgia. The Italian forward shot 7-of-10 from beyond the arc on the day as his team beat Bosnia and Herzegovina despite its head coach being ejected early in the third quarter. Fontecchio's role with Italy does not match what he'll be asked to do with the Heat next season, but his catch-and-shoot ability will be critical. Sunday's performance was a reminder of the value he can offer in that area, even if 39-point games have not been the norm for him.
Simone Fontecchio
Simone Fontecchio struggles in EuroBasket opener
Thu, Aug 28, 2025, 10:42 AM
Simone Fontecchio shot 1-of-11 from the field and 1-of-2 from the foul line in Thursday's loss to Greece, scoring four points with five rebounds, one assist, three steals and one three-pointer.
Analysis: With this EuroBasket expected to be Danilo Gallinari's (eight points, three rebounds and one three-pointer) final major international competition, Fontecchio is expected to figure prominently in Italy's plans this summer and moving forward. Unfortunately, the Heat forward could not find his groove offensively, missing all six of his two-point attempts. Fontecchio will look to bounce back when the Italians face Georgia on Saturday in what stands to be another physical matchup. Traded to the Heat in early July, Fontecchio will look to carve out a consistent role when training camp opens in late September.
Nikola Jovic
Jovic scores game-high 18 points vs. Estonia
Wed, Aug 27, 2025, 10:45 AM
Nikola Jovic led Serbia with 18 points (6-of-8 FGs), four rebounds, six assists, one steal and three three-pointers against Estonia on Wednesday.
Analysis: Jovic only needed 16 minutes to dominate Estonia in Serbia's EuroBasket opener. They outscored Estonia by 36 points during Jovic's short stint on the floor, and he'll continue to play a critical role for them throughout the tournament. Jovic is set to enter his fourth season with the Heat and could be in for a breakout season.
Dru Smith
Heat sign Dru Smith to three-year deal
Sun, Aug 17, 2025, 7:00 AM
Miami Heat
Heat signed G Dru Smith to a three-year, $7.9 million deal.
Analysis: Smith has had terrible luck with injuries, as his last two seasons have ended prematurely due to a torn ACL and a ruptured Achilles tendon. However, this did not prevent the Heat from signing him to a standard contract for the next three seasons. While the 2025-26 campaign is fully guaranteed, Smith's contract for the following two seasons is conditionally guaranteed. Smith is not guaranteed to be fully recovered from the Achilles injury in time for the start of the upcoming season, but he'll have an opportunity to earn minutes once cleared.
Haywood Highsmith
Haywood Highsmith (knee) out 8-10 weeks
Fri, Aug 8, 2025, 8:46 AM
Miami Heat
Haywood Highsmith (knee) will be sidelined for 8-10 weeks after undergoing surgery.
Analysis: According to the Heat, Highsmith suffered a torn right meniscus while training in his hometown of Baltimore. With the team's timeline, the wing may be available in time for the start of the regular season, but that isn't guaranteed. Highsmith has not been a consistently impactful fantasy asset with the Heat, but he's been able to earn rotation minutes.
Keshad Johnson
Keshad Johnson scores efficient 22 points Monday
Mon, Jul 14, 2025, 5:02 PM
Keshad Johnson produced 22 points (8-of-10 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and two three-pointers in Monday's win over the Celtics.
Analysis: After spending most of his rookie season in Sioux Falls with Miami's G League affiliate, Johnson is looking to carve out a role with the “big club” in 2025-26. He shot the ball exceptionally well on Monday, making 80 percent of his field goal attempts. Add in the other stats, and Johnson contributed a complete stat line in Miami's first win in Las Vegas. Johnson's chances of being a fantasy-relevant player to begin next season are slim, but he should potentially have opportunities to change that during training camp.
Pelle Larsson
Pelle Larsson scores game-high 24 points vs. BOS
Mon, Jul 14, 2025, 4:50 PM
Pelle Larsson recorded 24 points (7-of-14 FGs, 9-of-10 FTs), two rebounds, six assists and one three-pointer in Monday's win over the Celtics.
Analysis: Larsson and the Heat picked up their first win of the summer on Monday, and he led the way offensively as a scorer and playmaker. While Kel'el Ware being called out over the weekend grabbed the headlines, he wasn't the only Heat player whose competitiveness left something to be desired in Miami's first two games. Larsson stepped up against the Celtics, and the Heat will need him consistently next season.
Pelle Larsson
Pelle Larsson scores 14 points in loss to Cavs
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 4:00 PM
Pelle Larsson accumulated 14 points (3-of-6 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers in Sunday's loss to the Cavaliers.
Analysis: Larsson was another Heat returnee who did not play well on Friday. A productive night at the foul line boosted his point total after he went 4-of-12 from the field. The second-year wing shot the ball better on Sunday, making both of his three-point attempts, and he was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Larsson is not a like-for-like replacement for Duncan Robinson, but additional opportunities may be available next season. And that's with the Heat acquiring Norman Powell via trade.
Norman Powell
Norman Powell dealt to Heat in three-team deal
Mon, Jul 7, 2025, 4:46 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that Norman Powell has been dealt to the Heat as part of a three-team deal.
Analysis: The deal also sends John Collins to the Clippers, and a package of Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a 2027 second-round pick to the Jazz. Powell averaged a career-best 21.8 points and 3.0 triples per game last season, and he should enjoy a significant role in Miami's rotation in 2025-26. Powell should push Davion Mitchell and Terry Rozier into smaller roles for Miami in 2025-26.
Pelle Larsson
Pelle Larsson leads Miami with 18 points vs. Spurs
Sat, Jul 5, 2025, 1:03 PM
Pelle Larsson led the Heat with 18 points (4-of-12 FGs, 10-of-11 FTs) and three rebounds against the Spurs on Saturday.
Analysis: The Heat added Larsson with the 44th pick in 2024, and he ended up playing a role off the bench during his rookie year. It wasn't a significant role, but he did see the floor at times and started six games late in the year. He led the Heat in scoring on Saturday, and he did most of his work at the free throw line. The 24-year-old will look to take on a larger role in year two with Miami.
Simone Fontecchio
Heat acquires Simone Fontecchio via sign & trade
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 12:33 PM
Shams Charania
The Heat acquired Simone Fontecchio from the Pistons via sign-and-trade.
Analysis: With the Heat losing Duncan Robinson to the Pistons, they received a player from Detroit via sign-and-trade. Fontecchio provided depth off the bench in his first full season with Detroit, averaging 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 16.5 minutes per game. While Miami needs shooting in the aftermath of Robinson's exit, getting Fontecchio won't be enough. Regarding fantasy basketball, he isn't a player who should be targeted in fantasy drafts this fall.
Duncan Robinson
Shams: Robinson exercises early termination option
Sun, Jun 29, 2025, 8:10 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Duncan Robinson has exercised his early termination option and will be an unrestricted free agent.
Analysis: Robinson possessed an early termination option worth $20 million. While the decision to exercise it will make the Heat guard an unrestricted free agent, it's been reported that the door is not closed on a return. Charania says Robinson will work with the Heat on a new deal. While he can provide points and three-pointers, Robinson has primarily been a specialist in category leagues. That's unlikely to change next season, regardless of where he signs.
Davion Mitchell
Shams: Mitchell returning to Heat on two-year deal
Sat, Jun 28, 2025, 7:57 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Davion Mitchell has agreed to a two-year, $24 million deal to return to the Heat.
Analysis: Mitchell struggled to find his place during his first few seasons in the NBA, but after being traded to Miami in February, he enjoyed arguably the best stretch of his career. Now, instead of trying to get a better deal in restricted free agency, he'll just sign back with the Heat. Though they just drafted Kasparas Jakucionis with the No. 20 pick in the draft, Mitchell should get the first crack at the starting point guard job, which is the role that he ended last season in.
